Orphans Ministry
Each summer, the benevolence Christian missions organization, Gospel for Ukraine, and the Church of Christ provides the opportunity for orphans to participate in a week-long Bible camp.
This year, 2007, we held two camps in Crimea. We were able to take more than 80 kids from four different orphanages. The children came from Markievka, Krivoy Rog, Donetsk orphanages no. 1 and no. 8. We are also very grateful to the Christians from church who took time to help facilitate these camps. Even more so, we appreciate the time they take throughout the year to visit the orphanages and build relationships with the children and teachers there. Our goal is to try and make the camp a relaxed and flexible environment—to feel more like a family setting. There were meals and housing provided along with activities, crafts, songs, Bible studies, and of course swimming in the Black Sea. All teachers and children always thank those who help fund and support these camps. They write us letters. Here is only one of many:
We are thankful to the Christian missions who provide such a wonderful opportunity for us to have a good time in a good place here in Ukraine. The sea, fresh air, beautiful mountains, and good food was all very good for us. We were all excited to be a part of this camp. Most importantly, we became closer to God and grew spiritually. We now know and understand the Bible better. Thank you very much to all those who helped to organize and support this.
Love,
